pre-prophase band

pre-prophase band: Band of microtubules 1-3 m m wide that appears just below the plasma membrane of a plant cell before the start of mitosis. The position of the pre-prophase band determines the plane of cytokinesis and of the cell plate that will eventually separate the two cells.
